1 Thessalonians 5:17

Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

As it is written in the Bible, there is none righteous, no, not one. The reason why there are no righteous people on earth is because all of us have sinned against God. When we break God's law as outlined in the Bible, we are guilty of sin. The Bible teaches us to not kill, steal, lust after people or things, or seek after selfish pleasure, yet we all have failed to obey God's commands from our heart and mind.

God must administer His justice upon the one who breaks His law, whether or not the person was aware of the law. Most people are aware of God's law, because God has already written His law upon our hearts. We will receive punishment from God if we continue in our rebellion against God, and the punishment is being burned alive forever in a lake of fire (like lava) while feeling every moment of the pain.

The price we pay for our sin, or our quest for instant gratification and our search for sinful pleasure, is death. After death, we will give an account for our lives where God will judge us for our actions against Him. If we die in our sins, God will punish us through hell, and we wil deserve it because of our wicked disobedience against the Holy and Almighty God. We will deserve the eternal fires of hell burning our flesh forever even for telling a single lie. However, God has provided us with a way out of death. God wants us to be with Him, and God wants to dwell with us, but because of our sins, He cannot communicate with us. God, in His perfect holiness, cannot coexist with sin, because it would taint His holiness. God, in His mercy and loving kindness towards us, has given us a way for our sins to be removed, allowing us to go to Him without allowing the stinking blemish of our sins to poison His righteousness.

The Bible teaches us the only way to receive the removal of our sins is through the blood sacrifice of a spotless lamb in order to absolve us of our sins. If something innocent sheds its blood and dies instead of us, in our place, if someone who never sinned dies instead of us, in our place, then we will be released from the burden and punishment of our sins.

In the past, many civilizations sacrificed animals to try to persuade God that they were seriously devout enough to gain entrance into God's holy place in heaven. However, this is not good enough for God, because God also wants to change people's hearts, to make people want to do good and hate evil. Through His merciful grace, He has provided all humanity with the perfect sacrifice for our sins while changing our hearts at the same time.

About two thousand years ago, a humble carpenter from Israel, who was miraculously born of a virgin girl in Bethlehem, preached for three years of the kingdom of God. As He was preaching, He performed many miracles: healing the blind, curing lepers, healing cripples, and on three occasions He brought someone to life that was physically dead. His power was enormous, never before seen in front of any person in the history of humanity.

He preached, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" He astounded the religious leaders of His day by telling them, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man may come to God but by me." He taught people, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven…Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."

When He came to the main city of Israel, He was hailed as the King. However, the religious leaders of the nation didn't like Him. They tried to trick Him with their words, but He revealed the wisdom of God despite their pride and hypocrisy. Eventually, they gave money to one of His closest friends to betray Him into their hands. While He was praying one night, the traitor kissed Him on the cheek, which was the telltale sign for the soldiers to take Him away.

The soldiers brought Him to a court during the night, which was illegal, in front of the very religious people who hated Him. They tried to accuse Him, but none of their accusations seemed to match or be true. When the high priest, the head of the religious leaders, asked Him if He was the Son of God, He said, "I am, and henceforth you shall see the Son of Man sitting on the clouds of heaven at the right hand of the Father." They were outraged at His statement, and sent Him to the governor of the city to be executed.

When the religious leaders took Him to the governor of the city, they charged Him with the crime of treason, for He claimed to be the King of the Jews. When the governor started to talk with Him, the governor realized the religious leaders had taken Him out of jealousy and spite. The governor ordered Him to be released, but the people cried out, "Crucify Him, crucify Him." When the governor asked what evil he had done, they still cried out, "Crucify Him, crucify Him." The governor, afraid to let Him go because of the riotous behavior of the crowds, sentenced Him to be crucified.

He was scourged with a leather whip laced with bone and metal fragments. When the soldier would lash His back, the bone and metal would catch in His skin, and when the soldier would pull the whip, flesh would tear off from His back. This scourging left the victims absolutely torn to shreds, with little pieces of flesh hanging on the ripped sides and shredded back of the person being scourged. He was whipped thirty-nine times, and most people died from this beating. When the scourging was finished, the soldiers made a crown of thorns to put on His head. The thorns were about an inch long. When they placed it on His head, they shoved each thorn into the skin of His head, causing unbearable agony and pain due to the concentration of nerves around the skin over the skull. Then, they beat Him and pulled out His beard, leaving Him absolutely unrecognizable to anyone who knew Him. Then, the large twenty-foot cross was put on His scourged back, and He was forced to carry this cross for a few hundred feet up a hill, with the wooden cross resting on His already torn skin. He was so exhausted from the scourging, beatings, and the crown of thorns, He couldn't carry the cross the entire distance. A man from a neighboring country carried the cross the rest of the way for Him to a hill known as Calvary, where He would be crucified.

The soldiers laid him against the wooden cross, shaped like a t, and hammered a nine-inch long nail into His open, stretched-out hand. The nail pierced His hand, stressing the nerves in His hand, and fastened His hand against the wood of the cross. They took His other hand, and hammered the nail into His hand, with the rust and metal fragments scraping the insides of His flesh, fastening His other hand against the wood of the cross. They nailed His two feet together at the bottom of the cross, fastening His feet against the wooden cross. Every minute movement of His hands and feet would cause His nerves to send shock-waves of agony throughout His entire body. Then, the soldiers lifted up the cross, causing Him to collapse downward because of the sheer weight of His body. Because His lungs would asphyxiate due to the collapse of His body on the cross, He couldn't breath. In order to take just one breath, He had to lift Himself up while on the cross in order to catch one breath. While this was happening, the old rusty nails in His hands and feet would cause the nerves to send shock-waves of pain throughout His arms, legs, and back, completely paralyzing Him with agony, torment, and pain. When He would take His breath, He would let go of His strength, which would cause His body to crash against the old rugged cross, causing His already opened wounds and shredded flesh on His back to bleed and rip due to the scourging He received earlier, as well as cause His lungs to asphyxiate once again. He would take a breath, the torment would set in, He would exhale, and then slam His shredded back against the cross. He would take a breath, the torment would set in, He would exhale, and then slam His shredded back against the cross. He would take a breath, the torment would set in, He would exhale, and then slam His shredded back against the cross. He did this for six hours. After these six hours of extreme, brutal anguish, He said, "It is finished. Father, into your hands I commit my Spirit." And then, after never doing anything wrong in His entire life, He died.

Why would the Son of God, God manifest in a human body, allow people, people He created, torture Him and kill Him in such a gruesome manner? Wouldn't God be justified if He sent fire down from the sky to destroy all those people who killed Him? Why would He die on the cross for such a wicked sinful people?

He bled and died on the cross to provide us with the perfect sacrifice sufficient enough for the removal of our sins, enabling us to spend eternity with Him in His Father's glory. He has allowed Himself to become the perfect substitute for our sinful life. If we exchange our sinful life for His perfect life, then we will receive His death on our behalf and we receive His perfect life in return. If we give Him our sins, and let go of our own sinful lives, then our old life will be dead with Him on the cross, while we receive His powerful testimony of His perfect life. This allows us to come to God through faith in His Son, so we can be with God for all eternity by believing in Him as the perfect sacrifice for the removal of our sins. God be praised! Hallelujah!

On the third day of His death, after being buried in a tomb of a rich man, women came to anoint His body with spices. However, an angel opened up the tomb and cried out, "He is not here! He is risen! Behold the place where He laid!" They investigated and discovered He was not in the grave! The women walked away wondering, and then they saw Him alive! They fell at His feet and worshipped Him as the risen Savior, Messiah, King, and Lord! A short while later, His friends all saw Him alive! He did not stay dead! He did not deserve to die, so His Father, in perfect mercy and justice, brought Him back from physical death and resurrected Him from the dead! He trusted His Father to be fair because He never did anything deserving of death, so He was risen from the dead! He stayed and taught His friends for about forty days, and then ascended up into heaven to be with His Father.

Who is this man that died to save us from death and rose from the dead? His name is Jesus Christ, and if you call upon Him right now, and believe His blood provides you with the perfect sacrificial substitute for your sinful life, and believe His resurrection provides you with the perfect life in return for your own, then you will be with Him forever. You will live with Jesus Christ for all eternity. The love, joy, and peace that will come when you ask Jesus Christ to come and save you, to live in your heart and be your Lord and Savior, will be eternal, satisfying, and lovely.

If you ever change your mind concerning your sins, or if you are ever afraid to die, or if you are ever in a situation you cannot handle or control: confess your sins to God; ask God to forgive you of your sins, ask Jesus for His blood to remove your sins, tell Jesus you believe He rose from the dead physically, and ask God for His Spirit, the Holy Ghost, to dwell in you.

After you do this, you need to know how to pray to Jesus. First, memorize the Lord's prayer mentioned in Matthew 6:9-13, which is the following: "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." Make sure you memorize this prayer, and pray every morning for these things, which Jesus Himself told His disciples to pray.

Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in His words, and he shall grant you the desires of your heart through this prayer. Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and the door shall be opened to you." Whenever you need anything substantial for His Kingdom's sake and for His glory, ask God. Ask Jesus for His wisdom and life, and He shall not disappoint you.

How can we find Jesus while praying? When I was younger, some friends of mine made a video about space travel. In order to make an illusion of space, they took black construction paper, punched some small holes in it, and placed it in front of a lamp, making the holes look like stars. When you look up to the sky, it's as if it was three-dimensional construction paper in God's perspective. Behind the sky is the dwelling place of Jesus Christ. He is sitting on His throne surrounded by the angelic host worshipping Him forever, surrounded by the fiery power of His brightness and glory. This is where Jesus dwells.

The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. How do you do this? In order to speak to Jesus without ceasing, you first need to remove your sins by believing His blood shed on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for remission of sin is sufficient enough to cleanse your soul of all your sins, shame, and guilt. Then, think about the cross, and what He has done for you on the cross. In the theater of your mind, picture Jesus dying on the cross and Himself knowing the death of the cross was the only way for you to receive eternal life, realizing His agony, pain, and torment would be the only way available to all mankind for the removal of our sins and the only way to reach God by faith in the power of His blood shed on the cross for the cleansing of our sins. Then, set your heart and affection on Jesus Christ and just love Him in your heart because of His love for you at the cross. Feel love for Him, and tenderly set your affections upon Him as you're thinking about His death on the cross. While thinking and feeling love for Him, talk to Him where He dwells, which is behind the sky, and you will reach Him. He will answer you back through His love dwelling in you by His Spirit when you ask Him for His life to dwell in you. When you do these things, you will always be with Him, and His presence will always be with you until He returns to take you home. Whenever you want fellowship with Him constantly, without ceasing, think of His love for you demonstrated by His actions at the cross, and love Him for His love for you, and He will return this love to you with the comfort of His presence, the Holy Ghost.

There will come a day when Jesus will rip the sky in half, and the heaven will depart. He will descend from heaven with a shout surrounded by the fire of His glory, which will burn up the entire earth and all the works and things that dwell upon the earth. The only way to withstand the fire of the second coming of Christ is to have the fire of the Holy Ghost dwell in your heart by faith in Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and faith in His resurrection from physical death. When He returns, He will try your heart to know what you have done with his Spirit while on earth. You will give an account for all things done in this life, whether they be good or evil. He will weigh you in the balance of His Son, and Jesus wants you to go and do good things so you will not be found wanting at the scales of mercy. If you allow Him to dwell in your heart, and obey His commands to love one another and love God, He will make an eternal home for you that will be filled with love, peace, and joy forever and ever. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you, and wants you to be with Him forever.

After you receive the life of Jesus Christ dwelling in your soul, start telling all people about His love, grace, mercy, and joy. Preach His good news to everyone you see. Tell people the story of His sacrifice. Start reading His book, the Holy Bible, every day. Read a chapter of the New Testament and a chapter of the Old Testament. When you pray, make sure you ask Jesus for anything you need, and make sure you ask Him for help whenever you need it. Also, ask Jesus to help others and also to provide you with close friends who will help you walk with Jesus closely and correctly. And above all, just love Him with all your heart!

The Lord loves you too much to let you go. He loves you too much to not enjoy the beauty and grace of His presence. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved and receive the bliss of knowing God personally! Hallelujah! You can receive the blessing of the Father, which is the presence of Himself by faith in His Son with the love of God shed abroad to all men through the cross of Jesus Christ and by His resurrection from the dead! Blessed by the Lord God and Father of Jesus Christ, who has enriched us and blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places through faith in Christ Jesus for the forgiveness of all our sins! Hooray! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Jesus is my Lord and my God! My blessed Lord, I love you! I love you! I love you! I love you! Jesus loves you! Praise the Lord Jesus Christ, the risen Son of God!
