John 3:3

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3)

Do you want to become a born-again Christian? This is a very important question, considering what is at stake regarding the answer. If the Bible is true, then only by being born again can you go to heaven. If the Bible isn't true, then anyone who claims to be a born again Christian has been deluded and will end up in the same place as everyone else. However, the Bible is true, and the Bible says the only way a person can go to heaven is to be born again.

Why do you need to be born again? When you were born, you were born with a natural desire to do evil deeds. When born, you were automatically selfish, self-seeking, and always disobedient, until your parents hopefully taught you what is right and what is wrong. After learning about morality and ethics, you walk through your life making choices in light of the morals and ethics you learned. The basics of morality can be found in the Bible. In Exodus 20:1-18, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. These commandments are the rules govern your entire life. You must make your moral decisions based upon these rules. Unfortunately, you have broken one of those commandments at one time or another in your life. You have to be honest with God, and you have to be honest with yourself. When you break a commandment, God has to bring His judgment and wrath on you for being disobedient, and the punishment for breaking God's law is burning eternally in a lake of fire. In order to avoid the punishment for sin, you must be released from the bondage of your sin, and the only way to be released from this bondage is through death. This is the bad news; however, the good news is God has provided you with a way to die without actually dying, and a way to be born again without actually being reborn physically.

How can you become born again? God is just and pure; He cannot just sit idly by and watch His creation commit wickedness and get away with it. He must be righteous in His judgments, or it would taint His perfect character. Even though God will punish the wicked, He still retains His holiness and goodness despite His seemingly harsh penalty. However, God has not left us with only one option. God has supplied you with a way to receive forgiveness of your sins. He wants to bring you back to Him and love you. The one way to receive the forgiveness of your sins, the only way, the true way, is through the sacrifice given to man by Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect life without sin, and gave you His life to be the perfect death necessary to take the death you deserve for sin. God will wipe away the slate of your conscience and make you new and clean if you change your mind concerning your ungodly behavior and believe the blood of Jesus Christ is a sufficient sacrifice for the forgiveness of your sins. The blood of Jesus acts as a mighty eraser on your conscience that wipes away all the sins in your life. You can start over, afresh, anew, and you can truly start to live for the only true God by following Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ rose physically from the dead! This is the proof that God was satisfied with the sacrifice provided by Jesus Christ on the cross; God was pleased with the death of Christ as good enough to purge away sins, granting mankind new life and new hope, by raising Jesus Christ to life from the dead. You must believe also in His resurrection! When you believe that Jesus rose from the dead, and sincerely ask Jesus to live in you and be your righteousness, then you truly become born again! It is all through faith in His complete work done on the cross and by believing that He rose again from physical death! His cross supplied you with the perfect sacrifice to give you a clean slate on life, and His resurrection supplied you with a perfect life to keep our slate clean, and this life must dwell in you rather than your own. You must crucify your own life, become dead to yourself, and ask Jesus Christ to live in you.

What must you do to be saved? The Bible says to repent of your sins, which means to stop sinning, and ask for the blood of Jesus Christ to wash you of your sins. Then, believe that Jesus Christ rose physically from the dead and ask for Him to dwell in you. From now on, you must live for Him and not for yourself. No more can you go out and party, drink, have sex outside of a lawful marriage covenant, lie, steal, covet, envy, hate, or anything else that God doesn't want you to do. You must live in His righteousness and follow Him. Lay down your life completely!

What happens after you're born again? Get baptized by being immersed in water in the name of Jesus Christ. Start reading the New Testament, starting with Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Read these four books about three times, then go on with the rest of the New Testament. After finishing the New Testament, start reading the Old Testament, but be sure to read a chapter of the New Testament every day as well as your Old Testament reading. Start going to a Bible-believing church. Start talking to Jesus Christ in prayer. Memorize the Lord's Prayer mentioned in Matthew 6:9-13. Stop sinning, and start living for God, asking Him what His will is for you. Always do the things that please Him, and when you finally go to meet the LORD in heaven, He will say "Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter into your rest." Praise the LORD Jesus Christ, the risen Son of God!
